Longest blog post ever!!! No more BINKYS, potty training, Owen’s B – Day, Soccer, horses with grandpa and updates on the boys growing up too fast!

So… I might be just a little behind. But with have been so busy now that the weather is warming up. The kids and I can’t get enough of play outside in the sun! We end up at Grandma Lou’s house a lot because Owen and loves ridding his scooter outside with the girls when they get home from school. Jessica, Kali and Mckell are so adorable with both of the boys. They put mason in the stroller and get on their roller blades and go around the circle while Owen there little shadow follows them on his scooter.  Those three girls are going to be such good moms one day and I wouldn't be surprised if Mckell had 10 kids and hugged them all so tight that they stayed baby’s forever haha! Love those girls for always loving my boys.

This last weekend it had been so warm that we thought it would be a good idea to go swimming at Aunt Kristen’s house. So Saturday morning we were invited to have breakfast with the Hanson family.  We convinced them that it was a good idea and to come with us and swim. Well… don’t know if you've ever seen titanic but the water was about as cold as the inside of an ice cube! I was surprised how long the kids stayed in the water even though there teeth were chattering like crazy.

After we got out of the freezing cold water we took the kids inside to say hi to the baby bunnies.  All the kids were so adorable with the bunnies and most were very gentle. Mason was so excited he could hardly stand it. He was kiss and hugging them. I guess saying Mason loved the bunnies, is a complete understatement!  Not only did he love them, but it would probably be better for the bunnies if they’re never left alone in a room with Mason. He would cuddle them till they fell into a very deep sleep ha ha!

I’ve always said I’ll never get an animal. Not because I don’t love them. It’s just that I already have a bunch of little puppies that fallow me around the house… Nerveless seeing the way my kids love animals make me feel all sentimental. I’m not saying we’re going to go buy a puppy tomorrow or anything. But I love the way they so naturally care for animals and how they know that there something special about them.

We did it! No more binkies!

I’m so proud of Owen and his Dad who were braver than me when it came to getting rid of the binkies. I’m a very routine kind of person. I get ready for bed the same way every night. I have to brush my teeth, wash my face and go to the bathroom.  It’s a very normal routine. The only trick is that I have to go to the bathroom right before I fall asleep or else I worry that I’ll never get another chance to pee again. Why do I feel this way???? Who knows! It’s not like anyone has ever stolen my toilet in the middle of the night… point being Owen likes his routine as well. Every night we give the kids a bath. They play for a while with mike and I, maybe watch a show if we have time. Then we all say prays Owen normally would get his binky and then it’s time for bed.

I know it was more me than him that didn't want to break the routine. You see, Owen is a very persistent child and he always has been. When we finally had to let him cry it out at night it really was because I had run out of options. He was 8 months old and wanted to be held or nursed all night long. It got to the point where I would lay him down and with an hour he was up again.  I knew he wasn't hungry and that he just wanted me. But I also knew that he needed to learn to sooth himself.  So when he would wake up at night I would give him his binky so he knew I was there and didn’t just leave him. Then I would tell him it was time to go back to bed and that I loved him. I guess I just always felt like giving him he’s binky was my way of telling I’m here and I love you but it’s time for bed.

Michael was the one that did all the work getting Owen to give up the binky though. We were going up to Logan one weekend and left the binky at home. Well Owen is three years old and shouldn't have a binky anyways. So we weren't going to buy anymore.  That night Michael stayed with Owen in one room and mason and I were in another room.  When was saying good night to Owen he kept crying and saying that he wanted to go to his house and get the binky.  I thought he’d give up after a while and fall asleep.  Apparently I was wrong because he was up just about every hour crying for his mom and dad…. This was confusing because we were both with him all night long! At around three I finally came back in the room Owen and Mike were in to see if I could get him to sleep.

This went on the rest of the weekend.  So when we arrived back at our apartment we decided night to let the last three night go to waste and found all the binky and through them away! This was the part that Michael had a hard time with.  He felt like he was getting rid of baby Owen and throwing his best friends away.  It sounds funny but it makes so much since. Owen would put on binky in his mouth and twirl the other one around his figure.  It was adorable at least to us. The best part was him twisting in between his finger even though he was completely asleep and how randomly move his mouth like he still a new born baby taking a nap.  Love that boy ours and so proud of how strong and loving he is.

Growing up too fast!!! Owen is 3!!!

I can’t believe how big both my babies are and now Owen is three.  So crazy!!! We had a small little get together for Owen’s big day on both sides of the family. We went to the jump zone and were lucky enough to have grandma and grandpa Nickell come all the way down from Logan to see him on his special day.  The Hancey cousin joined in on the fun as well.  Owen was on could nine between all the cousins and overage of things he was allowed to jump off of.  It was pretty cute watching them have so much fun together.  The older cousins Jake, Isaac and Bo are so adorable with the little ones. It is so fun to see how they all look out for one another and how excited they were that it was Owen birthday. After hours of jumping we went back to our house had pizza and cake and ice cream! The kids watched a movie and then we opened present.  I could have been more fun for us!

Owen’s is lucky to have such a big family with so many cousins that love him! We also got to celebration with the Anderson’s. We had route bear floats and opened present.  One of his favorite presents was from the Glaitti family.  It’s this cute dinosaur that he take everywhere even to bed. It’s pretty cute. We love all of our family so much and are lucky to have so much support as we raise these adorable babies!

Everyday both boys surprise me with how much they are learning.  Owen is learning thing I don’t even remember teaching him. Mason is getting so good at communicating and understands everything we say. It’s crazy that mason is the exact same age Owen was when Mason came into our family.  I thought Owen was so big when Mason was born and now I can’t believe he was that little.  They are so adorable together and always play so cute.  It’s so fun to see Owen take on the responsibility of being an older brother.  He is always concerned about his friend Mason.  This is how he talks about Mason. He’s not just Mason.  He’s his friend Mason! So adorable I can’t even stand it!!!

The other day we were at Michelle’s house having a little Easter egg hunt with the kids. Grandma Nickell came down and set the whole thing up. We had so many activities we broke it into 2 sections of the day so the kids could nap.  Mom and I took Owen and Mason on a dive so they could get some rest.  Mason fell asleep before we reach the end of the street.  So I took him back to Michelle’s laid him in her room so he would get a good nap.  Owen was still wide awake and I knew he needed some sleep so I kept driving him around. He was so upset that we were leaving Mason kept crying and begging me to go back.  Mom, please don’t leave my Mason!  Go back I need my friend Mason!  This went on for about 15min as he was slowly dowsing in and out.  I was totally heart breaking.  Although I couldn't help but be happy to here and feel the love Owen feels for he’s brother.  I know that this is the same for Mason. Even though he can’t talk very well yet both boys light up when they see each other and hate being apart from one another.

While they are very adorable they are also little stinkers sometimes.  For example Mason loves to pull the Oven door down and try to climb on top of it.  So now we need to not only buy safety equipment to keep are dishes / food in the cupboards we also need to get something for the oven and I’m sure the refrigerator is next so we might as well buy that too! The worst part of the whole thing is that when I get mad at him and tell him no he just laughs at me…. I know a lot of people think I’m not mean enough. But when it comes to thing that can hurt or kill my babies I’m the meanest mom you've ever seen!  I know many of you would just laugh at me saying that I’m mean. But it’s true! When it comes to thing that can hurt my kids I feel justified in getting mad.

On a little less dangerous note… Mason throwing down is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!  He runs around the house till he finds the perfect spot (Where we can see him of course) and slowly slumps onto the floor and just lays there. After a minute or so he gets sick of being angry and gets back up to play.  It’s a little different when Owen is having a meltdown. I usually start buy telling him to calm down and that he needs to be quite. If I can’t get him to listen to me I just move on till he snaps out of it.

This is where it gets interesting.  Now whenever I’m getting mad at them for doing something there not supposed to.  Owen put his hands out as if he’s going to sooth me and says shshshsh Mom! Calm… down…. Listen… Then he tilts he’s and tries to tell me something in a very clam voice.  It’s amazing how much he mimics us.  Just the other day we were watching a show during nap time. There was a fire in the movie and Owen sat up and said oh no mom! There’s a fire! So I played along and acted scared. At which point he came over gave me a hug said don’t worry mom, then handed me his Sippy so I wouldn't be scared. He does the same thing with Mason. Always trying to help him or be the mom and tell him not throw or something…

But Mason need to be told not to throw! This afternoon he threw a water bottle at Owen’s and it literally browsed within seconds.  Owen is so good nurtured about it through usually tell me what happen and then I can talk to mason and make him say sorry.  But it such a hard thing to teach kids I swear have the time Mason is just doing it because he thinks it’s funny. The other half the time he’s probably being naughty.  Owen’s three and he’s just barley understanding not to hit back or that it hurts. Now when I explain thing I really see it click in he’s head. It takes them an awhile to understand. But when they do it’s fun to see how much grown. I’m sure that me saying the same thing over and over again is going to be a pretty common occurrence as we raise our kids. Hopefully they will figure out sooner than later that everything I do is because I love them!

Party Pics!

This place is awesome! The kids Jumped their harts out!

Pizza and cake and ice cream.

Thanks mom and dad for making a special trip for our Owen birthday party!

Potty training…

Not gunna lie I wasn't looking forward to it. But surprisingly it hasn't been as bad as I thought. While I did have a lot more laundry than normal for a few days Owen picked it up pretty fast. He’s done really well when we’re on the go too.  Which is a relief because my kids never want to hang out inside all day especially now that thing are warming up. I still have to remind him throughout the day but he will also run in the bathroom and tell me.

I’m not the best at potty training so sometimes I forget to remind him and we don’t make it in time.  But the only real mistake I think I've made is buying pull-up.  I didn't realize how much they were until mike told me.  So now I don’t even dare use the one’s we have unless it a special occasion or something…  Now that I see how  much money we’ll be saving by  just having to buy diapers for one baby then I think I’ll try a little bit sooner with mason. Especially now that he will Owen to show him the way.

Fun at Grandma and Grandpa Nickell's house!

Grandpa trying to rest.

He wasn't very successful....

Grandpa took the boys riding. Mason was screaming when ever he wasn't riding or petting the horse. I think Grandpa might have found some riding buddies.

I tried to get a good one of them sitting on the hay stack. But with all those horses around there was no way I could get the attention...  But it still turned out pretty adorable!

These two love each other so much!

I want to be a missionary now!

Cutest daddy loving his boys on the way to church!

Caught some cute pics at Isaac's baptism.

Fun outside thank goodness!

We like to play at the indoor park cold long days when dad is gone.  Every time we go the see the train and want to ride it so badly. I try to distract them but sometimes i'm not very successful. Another mom saw me failing at redirecting them and gave us a free pass so we could ride the train.  Owen was the happiest kid in the world! I told her thank you and that it meant a lot to my kids. I wish I could have given her something. But honestly I had nothing to give at the time. She couldn't have known how much it meant to be able to tell the boys they could ride the train. So happy there are such good people in this world!

Lucky us the Anderson's have a pass to the Zoo and let us  tag along!

Best pic I could get of us all together...

HAHAHA This pic is killing me!

Easter with both families this year!

We were totally spoiled by grandparents with treat present and so much more.  Both sides of the family had an Easter egg hunt.  But I think I might have forced the Anderson side into it… Maybe just a little haha!  Everyone’s kids are getting so big and bigger more cool Easter egg hunts to go to.  So the little one with just candy and few eggs aren't quite as cool… But they all supported my desire to have one for the really little ones.   It was so cute to see how all the older cousins were so excited to help out on both sides of the families.  All the older kids went out to hide the candy for us. They did a perfect job! While some of the goodies were hard to find other were easier for the babies.

Owen was so funny at both of the hunts we went to.  He wanted to make sure Mason got his eggs and kept handing him his basket over and over again and saying “Here you go Mason!”  It is so cute how he worries about his little brother. On the other hand Mason couldn't care less about the basket… He had already found some candy and was eating it rapper and all…  I’d say Easter was a success and we were so happy to spend it with family this year!!!

Anderson family Egg Hunt!

Mason found a hat!

Owen and Asher’s soccer adventure!

It has been so much fun to see the kids play soccer they are so adorable. While they are a little scared and not quite sure if they want to play yet. I’m so proud of them for trying even if they only play 5 minutes out of the whole game. It’s been cold a lot of the games so it’s hard for them to want to get out of the blanket... But both kids are way less afraid to try when it has been sunny. On the sunny games they have actually played a lot. It is so funny to watch Owen stand next to his teammates because they’re all around 4 years old and quite a bit bigger than him. Owen is so funny because as we’re getting ready for the game he asks me at least ten times (Asher coming too Mom?).  They are on a team with kids that already know each other and played together last year. So I think it’s a little intimidating for them. So it has been really good that they have each other in this little adventure.  Mason’s not afraid on bit though and is always running on the field… He’s always so furious with me when I take him back to the side lines.  But we usually end up in the field off to the side playing soccer with just our little for most the game anyways.  Helping them became more familiar with soccer and not being afraid to play.

I’m not going to lie it’s hard to get all the kids to the games and encourage them to try. Add to the fact that it has been freezing for most of their games which doesn't help either.  It has proven to be a lot of work. At the same time I love what being part of a team can teach them. I’m so excited to teach them to try and to always push them self in life.  While they are only three playing soccer or being a part of a team is really just about having fun.

There so many thing in this life that I hope to teach my kids.  One of the things I want them to learn in this life is to just try.  Just try and try again until you find what you love or till you accomplish what you’re working for and then try again.  It’s hard to put yourself out there in life but if you try I will be there over and over again sitting on the sidelines freezing my butt off cheering even when you’re scared. One thing I saw another mother doing at the game was encouraging her kids to cheer for their team member that were in the game playing.  I thought it was a brilliant way to help the kids be involved even if they’re just watching. So I started telling Owen lets support the team and cheer for our friends. So we did and it was so much fun!  Owen kept throwing his arms in the air and yelling GO BLUE GO BLUE! I know that they are little and it’s just for fun.  But there are so many great things to be learned by being involved. Right now they are just learning to try and have fun. But someday there will be lots more to learn, like how your team realizes on you to be responsible by being to practice on time.  Or if they all go home a practice at night they accept that you’ll be putting in just as much effort so you can be a part of a team and work together.  Also to support the people around you and not just for your own successes but for they’re too. Learning how to put yourself out there in life will teach you more than I ever could. You’ll make friends with people you never thought you’d like and you’ll find opportunity and direction in so many different things. You can learn to be leader or a great teacher, anything in world you want.  But you have to try.

I don’t know what activates my kids will end up loving.  But whatever they choice I want them to work hard at it and try their best in everything they do. Being involved and part of a team taught me to work hard in more than just Dance. It taught me that I could do whatever I wanted in life as long as I tried. It doesn’t matter what you choices soccer, basketball, tennis, track, tumbling, lacrosse, honestly anything you can think of as long as you’re trying and putting yourself out there in life you will be successful!!!

I love my boys and future children so much! I will never stop cheering for each and every one of you!

Picture day!

Something about the number on the back of their over sized uniforms is so adorable.

Mason is so cute and wants to do whatever they're doing.

Loving his Daddy!

I can't even stand how cute all these little ones are running around in different directions.

He caught me...

This team is made up of a lot of 4 year old's and a few 3 year old's. It makes Owen look so little and it's adorable!

Mason Supporting the team!

Asher got to throw the ball! it was so adorable!

We did spend a lot of time on the side lines wrestling.

But it was just as cute so why not take pics!

At some point Asher decided to take cover with uncle Michael. But Mason and Owen would do this all day! They're so rough when they play. Not sure if it just them or if all boy's are like this. I guess i'm not to worried as long as their laughing!

It was FREEZING!!! I felt so bad... All they need was a little warming up!

The cold games are a little tricky.... It hard to get them to get out their and play when they get such good cuddles from they're dads!

When it's warmer they are a lot more brave and willing to try and that make sitting through the freezing games worth it!!!
