I’m not quite sure why I do
this every time blog. But I always write a big huge blog that includes two to
three months’ worth of events. Then I
think relax and this oh good now I can’t just write smaller entrees ever few
week. Well… then I don’t and have to start all over with a really long post to
make sure I don’t leave anything important out…
So here we go with another
big post! I will do this because I don’t want to leave anything out because I
love my posterity too much hahaha!
This has been a very eventful
summer. I’m being to understand that any summer with kids comes with millions
of activity and honestly so much fun.
We’ve been swimming once or twice a week all summer long thanks to Aunt
Kristen and Uncle Gary! We love the splash pad on days when it’s just the boys
and I considering it is less dangerous than swimming with to very brave boys! Not
to mention that it give my blood pressure a little break. Owen is a little fish
and can swim with his life jacket on by himself. He loves to be thrown in at any given
time. Uncle Arron and Mike play a game
were they throw him back and forth to each other in the pool. Again this does
not help my blood pressure… But Owen thinks it amazing! I’m just now realizing that one day he will
actually be a kid and not my toddler forever…
Mason is so funny in the pool
he loves to do crab walk back and forth in the shallow part. He just sits there smiling and drinking as
much water as he can every time I turn my head. You can also find sitting on
one of the fountains that poor into the pool or push the big kids in as they
pretend to fall when he touches them. He also likes to jump in the pool over
and over again but only if were there to catch him. I’d say he still has a
pretty healthy fear of water. This is good for me because he’s a fast little
stinker.
Summer is proving to be very good for my boys
who just want to run all over the place all the time. They both have such love
for life and people. It is so fun to watch them make new friends and find new
adventure where ever we go.
Tubs for Mason!
Poor Mase has had some bad
luck with he’s ear this year. He has had
a lot of infections. While I don’t want
him sick or hurting in anyway. I was
more concerned about the fluid that has never drained out of them. There has not been one time this year where
we have ben to the doctor that he didn’t have fluid stuck in them. They say it normal for fluid to linger for a
few months after but too have it there for almost year! That’s just way to long…
Michael and I notice he wasn’t quite picking up on words that we were saying
all that well. He would get confused between teeth and toe, or head and hand.
And I knew he knew the difference. I
think for the first time in our parenting career Michael was more worried than
I was. Don’t get me wrong I’m always
worried about my kids and I bothered me that the doctors kept telling me he had
liquid behind his ear. But he is such a smart kid and always so happy. It was tricky to see if there was really
something wrong.
So I took him to the ear nose
and throat specialist. They did a bunch
of hearing test and sure enough he couldn’t hear too well out of his right ear
and the left wasn’t much better. The
doctor wanted to schedule him for tubs that day. But I was too nerves and told
them to wait I needed to talk to my husband first. Mike had already had lots of
nieces and nephews that had the same trouble.
So he knew that it would only help.
We decided to go ahead with
it and he did amazing!!! He was so adorable at the hospital didn’t even care
when the doctor came and took him away.
He actually put both hands on the side of his face looked right at the
doctor and started taunting him with nana-nana… And then just started to laugh
as if he knew he was cute and loved. I immediately
unclaimed him and apologized to the doctor whom found this all very funny
(thank goodness). Then I reclaimed him and we said good bye. This was the hardest part for Mike and me…I
knew it was a short surgery and that they didn’t even have to put him all the
way under but it was still very nerve racking!
We had just got the waiting
room, sat down and within minutes the doctor came in to tell us that he was
done and we were welcome to come hold him as he started to wake up. Mason was
such a trooper and wasn’t even sad until he wanted to walk around the hospital
at his leisure… However, that doesn’t work very well when your legs are still
dizzy from anesthesia. So we could just let him run around like the wild man he
usually is. So we sat him on our laps and turned on a show. As he was watching
the show Mike and I kept telling him to say stuff that he was seeing. As if a
Magic vale was lifted and he was suddenly going to start talking in full
sentences…. Then we looked at each other laughed and decided that we should
give the boy some time… Maybe just a little!
Well I guess giving him some time
worked. Because he started saying thing that I had been trying to teach him for
months with in a week! I think I will
always worry about him ear even though he definitely is doing awesome and the
doctors say that they look great. But
know I worry about water get in them… I guess that’s just part of being a mom.
You always worry!!! But I don’t see how you can’t when you love them so
much!!!!
Funny or Naughty…
So many things have happened
this summer and some of it is very funny and some is very naughty…
Ok here we go! Let’s start
with naughty ha! Mason learned to bit… I
love these boys so so much and it’s so hard to teach them sometimes. I guess
it’s because we wrestle with them so much and blow on their tummies and since
we are doing it nicely so that it tickles they think that it’s a game and don’t
realize that it hurts. Now while that is
the case some of the time. Mason has
learned (form getting in trouble) that biting hurts a lot!
Poor Owen has taken the brunt
of Mason’s learning curve… which has left Owen with little mason teeth marks
all over. Last night he bit Owen on the bum so hard last night that my natural
reaction was to show him exactly what he did that hurt Owen so bad. I’ve tried
this before but I don’t do it right obviously because he was still biting. All
it did was make me cry and Mike had to take over… Everyone says it only takes ones and they
never do it again. But I’m not sure I believe that and I don’t think I will
ever do that again. If he bits again all just have to think of a new way to
help him. I love those boys so much! And
I know I just need to find the right way to teach him. Away that works for both
of us.
Honestly most of the time he
is adorable. He always runs around giggling with Owen as they fight bad guys
with their bow staffs Just like Donatello the Ninja Turtle. For Mason loves Owen
so much and always wants to be with him. It’s funny because it is the same way
for Owen. He wants to make sure mason is ok and close by. Owen hates when Mason
has to take a nap and tells me over and over that Mason don’t need go to sleep
mom!
For some reason Mason has decided
everything about life is more fun when you’re naked. Clearly he is his father son… Anybody who
knows my husband has probably seen is bum on more that on occasion. Sorry
that’s just a fact. Not gunna lie it is pretty funny. I’m just going to let the record show that
Michael lucked out by marrying me! Considering I laugh at all of his jokes even
when others don’t. Don’t worry Michael most of the time everyone is laughing
with me!
Back to mason and his new
found love for being naked. A few things
you have to know when taking care of a nudist.
Aunt Melissa found this out the hard way when she put him down for a nap
in just his shirt and dipper. Yes you
can’t just leave the nudist in just a dipper! He will take it off and pee on
everything! Also you should make sure to dress the nudist in pants he can’t
take off. Again I say he will take them
off and pee on everything! It is very dangerous taking care of a nudist. But at
least this nudist is only one year’s old and very adorable!!!!
Ninja Turtles!
We have finally made it out of the pirate faze!
It’s kind of sad but so fun to see them be excited about new stuff. I’m not quite sure how they discovered the
Ninja Turtles… considering that at the time they had never seen the show
before. But they did and they love them!
Well we didn't have any ninja
turtle toys. So for potty training incentives Owen got to pick out an action
figure and of course we weren't going to living little mason out considering
he’s running all over the house saying nina nurnals all day. So he got to pick
one out as well. Then daddy decided that we needed the other two action
figures. So we got those as well and used it as another in incentive. Not sure
if it’s obvious but I think Mike might have been more excited than the boy
were. And they were extremely excited!!
So we got they set up with
the work and now both boys fall asleep at night with a ninja turtle in both
hands.
Side note… As we were getting
them set up with the works we found some soft Ninja Turtles that when you pull
on there arm they shoot across the room and scream thing like (Turtle power,
this is gonna be epic etc.
Well… Mike and I started
playing with them in the store. You know
just to test them out make sure they weren't broken and see how far they could
fly. Ya know… normal grown up
stuff.
It turns out they can fly
pretty far if thrown by the right person aka (mom). So mine ninja turtle gets stuck in the
ceiling… and the look on Owen’s face was pure horror. The look on my face was about the same.
Considering these were the last two soft Ninja turtle in the store at the
time… So I told him not to worry that we
would fix it. Then for some reason Mike and
I thought it would be a good idea to see if he could get it down by throwing
his up there too. It Might have worked if his hadn't gotten stuck too…
I couldn't stand to look at Owen’s
face as he slowly realized that the turtle were not come home with us
today. And I wasn't giving up that
easy. So I ran down the hall to find a
worker and ask if they had a latter.
That we’re testing out some toys for our kids and got them stuck in the
ceiling. At this point she was giving me a really weird look like I was a child
or something… Then she went on to tell me that they didn't have any latter's
that went up that high because of some liability stuff and how they would have
to have the fire man come and get it down. Pretty weird and it didn't make much
sense considering I’m sure they have to change the lights and stuff. But she
didn't seem too happy with me. So I went
back and told them what happened and how we would have to come back and get the
ninja turtle another day. Owen had the sweetest face as we were walking away
and said goodbye to the turtles and that we would be back later. I looked over
at Michael and didn't even need him to say anything to know that we were going
straight to the back pack section to the Ninja turtle back pack Owen was in
love with when we first got to the store. Of course Mason needed one too and
they both were them to church every Sunday.
Just to top it all off I've
been back to the store several times and the turtles and still in the
ceiling.
Owen is officially in
Pre-School!
It is so carzy!!! I dropped him off for the first time today. One of the first things he said to me when I picked him up was (Mom where you go?). I thought it was a good question and I’m glad he noticed I wasn’t around. I’m so excited to watch his learn and grow this year. We’re lucky to have our cousin Mya in his class. He was a little nervous when I dropped him off. But when he saw Mya he ran right up to her and gave her the biggest hug. I love that he has such good cousin that are close to him.

Kids are always learning and
they learn so fast! I’m surprised at
just how much they take in each day. Owen has recently started to taking in a
few things that we talk about a lot! But
I guess just didn’t expect him to understand quite yet. To me he is still my baby and I forget that
he is becoming a little boy.
The other day my mom came
over to visit. Not sure how the subject
came up. But at some point we started to
talk about Jesus. Whenever Owen see’s
pictures of Jesus he notice a few things.
One he notice that Jesus has blue eyes just like him and his dad. Two he notices that Jesus has (ouches) as he
calls it on his hands and feet and that he died. So as we’re sitting there he
tells us these things he knows about Jesus.
Then I say yes Jesus did
die. But he lives again for us! He turns to me with a sad face and says Mom
Jesus died sorry. OK…. I guess I’ll just
keep working on that one then haha! Then
Michael starts asking Owen who Jesus Loves? He Start with Owen then Mason and
so on. Then Owen stops him and says
(Dad, Jesus love everyone.). Tada!!! My
son knows that Jesus loves him! My work is done here. I’m out, and thank you
very much! Or… something like that… I guess we still have a little work to do
with these little people that follow us around.
But I was so proud of him for
understanding those few things about our Savior. I know he is little. But I can feel the sprite as we talk about
our savior together. And I can see it in his eyes that he knows it true. That
our savior does love us and that with and through him all things are
possible. If he only remembers one thing
we ever teach him. I hope he remembers that. I love you Owen and Mason and so
does our savior.
Is there anything cuter than these boys!?!?! Seriously they are so adorable!!!!

We had a blast this summer. We went down town to show the kids temple square. It was so beautiful and so fun to show them where we got married. Of course they didn't understand... But I think Owen did a little bit. The best part was Owen thinking that Jesus had turned into a statue. I tried to explain but not sure it worked..
Impromptu photo shoot! We have these a lot!
clearly i wasn't joking about the impromptu photo shoots... But who can blame me?!? These boys are adorable!!!
Mason wasn't quite having it... Still cute though!
A day at silver lake with dad!
Owen found a map along the way and insisted we use it every few feet.. Good thing he's cute!
Where did my baby go... This is not a baby or even a toddler this is a kid...
Cabin Sunday!
Mason learning the ropes about cabin Sunday.
Is there anything better than sicks, mud and water!!!
I guess good looks runs in the family!
Love the way Owen is looking at Mike in this pic. It is so sweet the way our boys love there daddy.
Lagoon was a total blast!!! I haven't had that much fun at lagoon since I was kid. The boys loved and and went on every little person ride int the park. I love watching them have fun and experience new things. It's simple amazing to see them grow.
Mom and dad went on most the rids with them. I've never been that dizzy in my life! There are way to many circles on little kid rides...
Thanks Nelson girls for always loving my boys and helping us out!

Front yard of fire at Matt and Shannon's house is always a party!
Nickell Cousin Fun!
Owen has been so amazing at soccer this season! He is always asking to go in and play! It has been so fun to watch him be excited to play with friends and run around. Notice the Donatello max rapped around his shirt. Crazy kid but to cute!
Jake came to support Owen and play with Mason. He is such a sweetie to my boys. I love watching him play with my kids the way I used to play with him!
Owen was clearly done with the whole picture thing. But this was just to cute of both of them!
